Leo, whose handicap is five, is a member of both Burnley and Blackburn Golf Clubs.

He regularly competes at county level for his two golf clubs and he has now taken it to the next level.

“In recent months I have represented Shuttleworth at regional and county level competitions where I have been up against quality opposition from students from other districts within Lancashire,” said Leo.

“A highlight was playing to my handicap at Ashton & Lea Golf Club in Preston in the County Under 15’s Championship.”

This was where his performance - in particular his powerful and accurate tee shots that are further than most other 15-year-olds in the county - was good enough to grab the attention of selectors at a national level.

And Leo is due to compete at the English Under 16’s Golf Championship at John O’Gaunt Golf Club in Bedfordshire at the beginning of August.
