GARY Turner was in tremendous form at the weekend at Towneley Golf Club.
The club’s competition and handicaps chairman won the 67 trophy played over the two days, with his cards of 63 and 69 taking the plaudits.
His Saturday score of 68-5-63 is the new course record.
Runner-up was greenkeeper Neil Cox who carded 67 and 68, while another of the greenkeeping staff Neil Jackson recorded the best gross scores of 75 and 76.
Nearest the pin awards went to Andrew Trickett and Steve Bird at holes six and 17 respectively.
The midweek Stableford competition winner was Ian Carruthers with 41 points, and Gary Turners, finishing a solitary point behind, made the runners up spot.
The Thursday winner was Graham Varley, on the card from the evergreen Bram Etherington, as both players totalled 39 points.
On Sunday the ladies were in action in the Spring Rose Bowl and second LGU Medal.
Melissa Freeman took first place with a 99-25-74, on a card play-off from Pat Steel (101-27-74).
