GREENHILL Bowling Club recently held a Family Day, when members and their families enjoyed a mixed abilities bowling competition.

Visitors on the day were Gordon Birtwistle MP and Councillors Maureen Brindle and Charlie Bullas.

They attended the event to enable the committee and members to thank them personally for supporting the club’s initiative to encourage Bowling participation amongst young people and ladies.

The councillors supported a grant from the Ward Opportunities Fund which enabled the club to obtain extra equipment for use by these groups.

• JOYCE Harrison beat husband Matt to win the Ernie Smith Trophy at Scott Park.

The ninth running of the competition again attracted the maximum 32 entries.

Matt beat Jim Winterflood in the semi-finals, with Joyce beating Bernard MacMahon.
