PETE Jackson won the prestigious Express Cup at Towneley Golf Club.
“Keano”, as he is affectionately known, posted a score of +3 to win the trophy.
Runner up was Darren Snook, who was beaten on a card play-off. Kenny Ingham won the lowest gross prize.
Nearest the pin awards went to Bill McLelland (6th) and Andrew Miller (17th).
The midweek Stableford on Tuesday was won by teenager Georgerae with an excellent 43 points, Ingham was runner-up, two points adrift.
Club Steward Ronnie Catlow won the Thursday competition with 41 points, with Steve Wyatt runner-up on 39.
The Falcon Trophy Mixed competition was won by Paul Hirst and Christine Fletcher with 83-16.5-66.5, from Roy Catlow and Melissa Freeman 86-18-68.
• IN the Midweek Medal at Burnley last Wednesday, Ian Owens’ 71 was best gross, but Peter Stonehouse won with 88-25-63 from Chris Stevens (74-9-65) and Andy McLoughlin (85-20-65).
On Saturday, the annual match against Nelson for the Gordon Leggate Trophy was played at Glen View, and the host club were victorious by 1,066 points to 977. The game was relatively close until the last five matches came good for Burnley.
Burnley players were moderately successful in the ELGA handicap finals at Marsden Park, with scores of 74, 75, 75 and 82 to finish sixth on the day.
In the ladies’ section, the Medal and Interclub Qualifier was won by Jean Scaife with 81-11-70, ahead of Deborah Horrocks (103-31-72).
The Coronation Foursomes Stableford was won by Norma Munro and Joyce Green with 29 points, from Gill Cole and Audrey Hill with 28.
