DARREN Whitaker was in tremendous form at the weekend in Townley Golf Club.
His card of 71-5-66 earned him top spot to win the Monthly Medal Final.
Paul Dacey was runner-up with 75-8-67, and Andrew Trickett’s 73-5-68 meant he took third spot.
Veteran Bob McGlynn had his best round for quite some time and totalled 42 points to win the subsidiary competition.
Nick Rae was runner-up on the card.
Matty Horsefall won the Captain’s Prize by defeating Jeff Wilkinson in the final, and Ian Caruthers won the Rabbits Prize against David Slater.
On Saturday, a large field competed for the H.N. Alderson Trophy, which resulted in a victory for 6 handicapper Steve Wynne with a nett score 66, thanks to a run of birdies over the last few holes.
Runner-up was Ian Boardman one shot adrift. The Tuesday & Thursday midweek competitions were won by Chris Turner 43pts from Pete Hargreaves 41pts & Mick Southern 41pts from Paul Haslam 40pts.
Earlier, another full week of competitions were held at Towneley, giving testament to the outstanding work head green keeper Damian Hartley and his team do to keep the course playable under recent weather conditions.
The Saturday competition was the final qualifier for the Monthly Medal Final.
Division one winner was Matt Horsfall with a nett 62, beating Anthony Fisher on a card play-off.
Division two winner Jim Dugdale (nett 67) also beat Ernie Whittaker on the card.
Division three winner Ian Howarth (nett 70) beat runner-up John Miller by two shots.
Nearest the pin winners at holes six and 17 were Dave Sedgwick and Chris Clough respectively.
The midweek Tuesday and Thursday competitions saw victories for both Gary Chadwick (41 points) and assistant professional Ben Collinson (42 points) in their respective competitions.
