Burnley thirds had a great start to their new year winning 30-12 at home to Garstang.

Paul McGee was Burnley’s only scorer as they trailed at the break, before Dom Leck added two penalties.

Father and son John and Dec Hutchinson began to dominate the scrums leading to Laurie Smith scoring two tries, and Mark Bertenshaw one for a final score of 30-12.

Burnley juniors travelled to Fleetwood last Sunday, as the Under 7s, Under 8s, Under 9s and the Under 10s all impressed.

Tomorrow the first and thirds travel to Garstang and Rossendale, and the second XV are home to Bury. On Sunday all the junior sides are training, except the Under 13s who are at Blackburn, and the Under 15s at home to Broughton Park, both 11 a.m. kick-offs, and the Colts, who are at Tarleton at 2 p.m.
