Since the clubhouse and court refurbishment that was completed in March 2013 with funding from Sport England and the Trusthouse Foundation, Burnley Tennis Club has opened its doors to various community projects.

In recognition of this, two committee members, Alison Padgett and Donna Livesey, were honoured to be invited to the Queen’s garden party at Buckingham Palace earlier this year.

Alison said: “It was a wonderful, once in a lifetime experience, and we were honoured to represent the club. We appreciated the recognition for all the hard work by the committee to make the club a viable community hub, as well as improving the facilities for members and the community.”

The club was also nominated by Burnley Council for community club of the year at an awards night last month, and though the club didn’t win the award, they were presented with a highly commended award.
