Two club members of Burnley Shotokan won medals at the AMA International at Ponds Forge in Sheffield.

Michael Brett gained gold in the men’s +75kg 4th kyu division, retaining the title he won in 2012, and Matt Keys won bronze in the boys’ Under 16 4th kyu division, and gold in the team event.

Matt also won gold at the Shindokai national championships in Barnsley.

Jodie Carr won gold at the AMA nationals, retaining her champions title, while Brandon Carr took silver in the boys’ Under 16 heavyweight and bronze in the open weight divisions.

Matt Keys won bronze in the Under 16 heavyweight division .

All have been selected to attend national squad training for the WUKF European Championships in October at the English institute of sport in sheffield.

The club has also gained three new black belts - John, Brandon and Jodie Carr.
