After last week’s magnificent 4-1 win against top of the league Clayton Vale, Burnley powered their way to fourth spot in the North West Counties Squash League with a complete demolition of David Lloyd Bolton, enjoying a 5-0 whitewash.

Bolton had no answer to the Burnley power play.

Nik Czernianin and Daniel Whittaker both outplayed their opponents, wining 3-0.

Steve Morris continued his form with a effortless display of controlled squash, also winning 3-0

Burnley’s leading players Rod Taggart and Graham Riley showed no mercy, not allowing the Bolton players the slightest opportunity to score any points, both winning 3-0.

All in all it was a fine win. Carrying on in this vein could lead to promotion, but in true football style, manager Ron Darlington said: “We will take one game at a time.”

Against Clayton, Czernianin lost 3-0 against an unbeaten opponent, before Daniel Whittaker beat Chris Dix 3-2 with a glorious drop shot.

Burnley’s new recruit Steven Morris comfortably won 3-0, and it was left to Rod Taggart to secure victory with a 3-0 win, never in any danger of losing.

The final game of the night was between number ones Graham Riley and Clayton captain Paul Lane, with Graham winning 3-1.
