EKTIO Burnley have reached the final of the MABL Cup thanks to a majestic victory against Preston Pride.

The team had a very good week of preparation and most of the players looked fired up in the warm up.

Preston started the game with a lot of intensity, and after a minute were 7-0 up.

But after a quick time out from the Burnley bench, with words of wisdom from coaches Cronin and Thompson, Burnley were back on court trying to close the gap.

After a very hard first quarter, Burnley were ahead 23-22 with both teams struggling to defend.

The second quarter saw Burnley taking the initiative, pushing Pride really hard.

Preston looked a very strong team with an excellent inside game, while Burnley were able to move the ball around, going inside with their two big men and shooting from outside with long range shots.

At half time the game was in the balance with Burnley just one point ahead.

The third quarter saw Preston trying to force the tempo, with Burnley responding well to some full court press and moving the ball in offence. Burnley showed some glimpses of good defending, but Preston were able to stay in touch with the local.

The fourth quarter was a different story all together.

Preston started to struggle to score, while Burnley were able to push the tempo of the game and score at ease.

Pride looked tired, possibly dejected by Burnley’s strong defense, Band urnley looked full of energy and determination.

The fourth quarter saw Burnley scoring 25 points to Preston’s 12 for a final score of Burnley 80, Preston Pride 64.

Coach Cronin said: “It was a good win, with some very good team work. We needed to work together in defense and stop Pride scoring, and we were sharper at the end of the game, possibly a little fitter than Preston.

I am happy about the performance, and we have now to play the final against Trafford, which I am looking forward to.”
