Burnley finished seventh in the North Lancashire 1 League after the outstanding games were played at the weekend.

Matt Crowley was leading try scorer for the season with 11.

Burnley seconds warmed up for their North West Cup Final at Wilmslow tomorrow, kick-off noon, with an emphatic 41-5 win at Preston Grasshoppers.

Wez Hughes grabbed a hat trick, and Alex Menderos, Matt Maquis and John Fenney scored one try each. Dom Leck kicked a conversion and a penalty, and skipper Gus Ferguson added three conversions.

The seconds will play Liverpool side St Edwardes in the final, and a supporters’ coach leaves the club at 9-30 a.m.

All junior sides will be training on Sunday at 10 a.m.

The club’s AGM is also on Sunday, followed by the players awards and traditional end of season barbeque at 11 a.m.

Next week a party of 49 players and officials set off for a two match tour of Gibraltar.
