LAST weekend, Burnley’s Under 16s National League side was on court twice in two days.

On Saturday, Burnley hosted Preston Pride, starting the first quarter well, scoring efficiently in offence, moving the ball quickly as they led 13-10.

In the second quarter Burnley looked impressive on both sides of the court, with good offence and very hard work in defence.

Alex Hall, Ben Chicken and Jordan Green were driving to the basket and scored points, while Sam Snape was deadly from outside as the lead increased to 38-27.

In the third quarter, the momentum switched as Preston showed better discipline to lead 56-52, and the fourth quarter once again saw Preston working Burnley’s defence very hard, as they went on to win 83-67.

On Sunday afternoon, Burnley travelled to Stockport to play against the Spartans.

The result was never in doubt, with Stockport looking really good, well-drilled and very strong physically.

Despite that, Burnley played at times very well, and coped with the full court press, losing out 118-37.

The Under 14s were also in action at St Peter’s, hosting the U14 Central Venue League for the Lancashire Basketball Association.

The first game saw Blackpool beat Chorley 79-7, before Burnley took on Garstang Giants.

The locals went on a rampage at the start of the game, and went on to win 38-10.

The third game saw Preston Pride lose 34-27 to Blackpool Lights, before Preston beat Garstang 36-23.

The last game saw Burnley playing against Blackpool Lights.

The first quarter was in the balance and finished 14-12 to Blackpool, butthe second quarter saw Burnley on the back foot from the opening, and after 20 minutes of the game Blackpool were in a commanding position, winning 24-15.

Burnley tried to rally around in the third and fourth quarters, but Blackpool looked solid as a rock and took the game home, winning 48-34.
