Brian Roche’s talented boxing apprentices continue to help the club’s reputation flourish.
The latest outing at Cheetham Hill’s Irish Centre saw 13-year-old Oathey Jones and 15-year-old Joseph Shaw claim victories.
Previously unbeaten prospect Henry Lascille was the victim as Jones recorded his 13th win from 15 amateur bouts.
“Othey won every round against a tough opponent who had a real punch on him,” said Roche. “He was dominant and outperformed him. Othey has got great head movement, balance and footwork and is really developing in to a top fighter. He’s a star of the future.”
Meanwhile Shaw, fighting at 60kg, eased past Liam McCrory. “It was unanimous. It was a superb, convincing display. He’s a talented boxer.”
There was also good news for Roche ABC’s Dean Thompson who was selected for the Great British squad after reaching the Junior ABA final.
