DURING 2011, Bobcats swim squad was generously supported by The Society of St. George, Burnley.

The Society donated the Robert Monk Memorial Cup last summer, which was presented to Robert Bryce to reward his effort and application in training. Robert has since gone on to record personal best times and win medals at galas.

And in October, Ben Edwards, a young Triathlete who represents Great Britain at international level, received funding from the Society to enable him to continue training with Burnley Bobcats.

Now the Society has presented a cheque that will ensure Bobcats can continue to access Long Course training at Manchester Aquatic Centre. This part of the training programme allows swimmers to train in a 50m pool once a month. As all major championships are held in long course pools, this training is vital.

Bobcats chairman Simon Holding was delighted to receive the cheque from the Society’s President, Geoff Green, at a recent training session at St Peter’s Centre, Burnley. Bobcats are extremely grateful for the continued support provided by The Society of St George, Burnley and would like to thank them for their help.
