Bobcats swimmers Joshua Lambert (15) and Harry Pilkington (13) were chosen to represent Lancashire in the British Gas ASA National County Team Championships in Sheffield last weekend.
The boys knew they had a tough task ahead as Lancashire had won the title for the past 12 years and the pressure was on to maintain this winning streak.
The 40 teams, split into two divisions, created a great day of competition and healthy rivalry for the Inter Counties event at Ponds Forge, led by team managers John Stout from the City of Salford and Carolyn Dawe from the City of Manchester Aquatics.
In Division One, Lancashire faced their close rivals Yorkshire, Somerset and Middlesex, who were all in the running to try and take the title from the current Champions. The Lancashire team showed great determination to hold on to their unbeaten run over the last decade with some convincing relay wins and individual swims to take the title again for the 13th successive year with a clear 44-point win from Somerset.
Both Josh and Harry swam individually in the 100m butterfly events and then competed alongside their Lancashire team mates in the 4x50m medley teams, both taking to the blocks for the butterfly leg of the race, with Harry bringing home the Lancashire (12/13) team in first position.
The last event of the competition was a very exciting mixed 6x50m Freestyle relay, but Lancashire had already secured their win.
Both Bobcat swimmers had a great day out and were very proud to be part of the victorious Lancashire team.
