Burnley Bobcats are in Sheffield over the next few days to compete at the British Gas National ASA competitions at the Ponds Forge pool in Sheffield.

The successful squad, which has 38 swimmers who are eligible to qualify for the Nationals, will have 20 of those - or 54% - swimming at the prestigious competition, which started on Wednesday and runs through until Sunday, August 4th.

A total of nine boys and 11 girls will take part in individual events and relays at the Age Group, Youth and MC competitions, with three swimmers also competing in the Open Water event at the Rother Valley Country Park, Sheffield.

Head Coach, Mike Robinson is delighted with the progress of the squad, and he said: “The swimmers have trained very hard this season and put in 100%, which has been proven by the numbers reaching National level.

“The competition will be a new experience for some of our swimmers, but one that I hope they will enjoy and return to again next year.”

Bobcats have certainly put in the hard work in advance of the Nationals.

They train seven times a week, with morning and evening sessions at the St Peters Centre, Burnley, and attend Manchester Aquatics Centre for 50m long course training once a month.
