BURNLEY Basketball Club are getting healthier with their “One Apple A Day” campaign.
The aim of the club’s new campaign is to promote healthy eating to all its members and to make sure they understand the importance of eating fruits as part of their diet.
After several weeks of failed attempts with local suppliers, the club has now teamed up with Abel and Cole and received some apples to distribute to all players at the club and players.
Club treasurer Giulio Minozzi said: “We have been trying to find a supplier to provide apples to the players for weeks without success, despite having several local suppliers nearby.
“Some of these players train and play up to 10 hours every week and Burnley Basketball Club would like to make sure that the athletes at our club understand the importance of a healthy diet.”
Colum Cronin, head coach at the club, added: “This season we are trying to improve our approach to performance and we have planned several initiatives to make sure that players understand what it takes to become a better athlete.
“Nutrition is one of the most important parts of the day to day life of an athlete and we are trying to educate them to make the correct choice.
“Abel and Cole has allowed us to start this process and we are very grateful to them for stepping in and supplying us with a box of apples.”
Katy, from Abel and Cole, said: “Abel and Cole are happy to support Burnley Basketball Club with a donation of our organic English apples.
“We wish the team every success this season.”
