British Rail B have stretched their lead at the top of the Rapid Recruit Burnley and District Snooker League to six points.

Wins against British Rail D and Paradise B, by 5-0 and 4-1,have kept them clear of nearest rivals Lowerhouse.

Simon Blackwell eventually lost a game but still heads the order of merit with nine wins and only one loss, along with Ighten Leigh’s Gary Ingham.

At the bottom, it is worrying times for Ighten Leigh A and Dickies A, who both have been in the bottom two all season.

Relegation looms without big improvements.

In the B Division there is no change at the top. Burnley Golf Club B are still leading, helped by a 5-0 win over fellow promotion hopefuls Dickies C.

In the last 16 of the Santas Pizza Knockouts, the tie of the round sees last year’s winner Andy Goody play the in-form John Lanceley, while last year’s doubles runners -up Scott Luke and Matt Kayley face a difficult tie, giving 33 start to Pete Woods and Gary Wassal.

Paradise’s Wayne Cotteril leads the small table high break with 78, while Jamie Linguards 74 remains unbeaten on the large.

Surely we will see a century by the end of the season!
