PUPILS from St Mary Magdalene’s took victory in gymnastics to seal their place at this year’s new-look SPAR Lancashire School Games county finals.

The team from the primary school competed against 11 schools from Burnley to finish in first place, and will progress to the Winter Games where the pupils will compete against others from across the county.

To get to the Winter Games, on March 19th at Stanley Park, Blackpool, St Mary Magdalene’s competed internally at Level 1, before taking part in Level 2 events in district inter-school competitions.

Richard Varey, chair of the Lancashire School Games organising committee and Burnley’s Blessed Trinity Roman Catholic College Head Teacher, said: “A big well done to all the pupils who have taken part in this year’s Level 1 and 2 competitions, and congratulations to St Mary Magdalene’s for getting through to the finals.”
