Ben is Towneley Golf Club champ!

Assistant professional at Towneley Golf Club Ben Collinson is this season’s club champion.

He carded two excellent rounds of 65 and 67 for an overall 132 claimed the prestigious trophy.

Gary Chadwick was runner-up with 71+66=137, with Gary Turner third (68+70=138).

The top eight players now play during the week for the Club Scratch competition.

The “Tartan Express” Andrew Miller was back on track, posting an excellent 43 points to win the Tuesday Stableford.

Jim Fitton was runner-up, a point adrift.

Mick Canby was the winner on the Thursday with 39 points, with Gary Turner runner-up with 38.

Teenager Joe Rigby is inching his way to a hole in one. Two weeks ago he was two inches away, and this week he was an inch away to claim nearest the pin at the sixth, with Ray Glasgow winning at the 17th.

At Burnley, the Midweek Medal was won by William Holmes’ 37 points, one better than Peter Lofthouse, with Steve Greenaway third with 35.

Last Thursday’s Ladies’ competition saw Elsie Thornber come out on top (91-15-76) after cards from captain Lynda Wills (94-18-76), with SUSAN KELLY (113-35-78).

Saturday’s Men’s May Monthly Medal and Thornber Cup Qualifier saw Michael Scott produce the round of the day with 68-3-65.

The Second Division prize went to Andy birbeck (75-10=65), and Martin Leach took the honours in the Third Division (82-14-68).

In the Fourth Division, Michael Duerden came out on top with a round of 92-22-70.
