ANTHONY Hargreaves certainly had a day to remember on Saturday at Towneley Golf Club.
The popular former captain had a gross score of 74 to win both the Past Captains’ prize - and the first round of the club’s winter league competition - with an excellent tally of 43 points.
The annual Past Captains’ Day was held, with many of the club’s former captains taking part in a stableford competition.
Paul Kelly finished as the runner-up to Hargreaves with 39 points.
A dinner then took place in the clubhouse in the evening, with member Ian Frankel providing the entertainment.
The subsidiary competition also took place, with Hargreaves’ 43 points putting him top of the field, with groundsman Neil Cox taking runners-up spot on the card from Martyn McIlroy after both players scored 40 points.
Chris Clough and Pete Jackson win the nearest the pin prizes at holes six and 17 respectively.
