It was another great week on the courts at Burnley Tennis Club.
The ladies’ A team moved four points clear at the top of Division One of the Ladies’ League with a 9-0 win over Darwen B.
In the Open League, Burnley Open A and B teams both had to halve their games 2.5-2.5 on Saturday, as bad weather stopped any play,
Burnley Open A are currently second in Division One behind Blackburn Northern A.
Burnley Open C lost 3-2 to Darwen B, but still remain top of Division Two, and Burnley Open D and E teams were the teams in form as they both recorded crushing 5-0 wins against Darwen C and Parkwood C.
In the Mixed League Division One, Burnley A played Crosshill A and turned in another faultless performance as they destroyed their opposition 9-0, losing just five games in eight sets to extend their lead at the top.
Burnley B played Burnley C in the Mixed Division One.
Both teams had strong sides out, but Burnley B came away with an 8-1 win.
Burnley mixed D played Towneley mixed A in Mixed Division Two and earned a great 6-3 win.
• Burnley Tennis Club have social tennis sessions every Tuesday from 6-9 p.m., Thursdays from 1-30-3-30 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. with everyone welcome for just £3, all equipment.
The club are also looking for boys and girls of all ages to try tennis and get involved in their coaching programme.
Under 12, 14s and 16 team tennis is also available, playing fixtures against other clubs and in local tournaments.
Super Saturdays Junior Tennis has really taken off.
The club are only four weeks in and have seen up to 30 kids turning up and getting involved in fantastic tennis sessions.
Sessions are on every Saturday from 10 a.m. until noon at Burnley Tennis Club.
Kids aged five to 16 are invited down to the club to get involved, with all standards welcome, and all equipment provided, for £1.
All sessions are taken by the club’s head coach Dave Woolstencroft and his team of assistants, and the club also runs weekly coaching sessions for juniors and adults.
