Three weeks into the Foster’s Lager Burnley and District Snooker League, and Ighten Leigh B’s Neil Payton has provided the story of the season so far.
Payton knocked in an incredible 108 clearance last week in the league match against Lowerhouse Canteen.
His victim was Steve Hargreaves, who had got himself 45 in front when Neil struck with his amazing clearance,
Neil’s achievement is all the more impressive as he is 67 years young !
His enthusiasm for the game is an inspiration for everyone who plays at the club, and he bounces round the table like a teenager,
He plays in two leagues and also plays pool as well, and still practices if he can seven days a week.
He had calls from local legends Duncan McNally and Glenn Stevenson – both former Golden Cue champions – to congratulate him.
Neil was a professional pool player many years ago and was known as the “Mr Cool of Pool”.
