Lowerhouse Cricket Club have pulled off another coup, with England Chief Selector Geoff Miller confirmed as guest speaker at the club’s sportsman’s dinner in May.

The event will take place on Friday, May 2nd at the clubhouse, with a comedian to be confirmed, along with ticket prices.

The cricket writer, Colin Bateman, says of Miller: “Geoff concedes that he probably enjoyed cricket too much.

“He did not take it as seriously as some, and when it became a rigorous, grim-faced business, he was not sorry to bow out of an eight-year Test career that never reached the peaks many expected”.

Likewise Simon Hughes referred to Miller in 1990 as being “the only remaining player who unfailingly visited the opposing team’s dressing room after play to thank them for the game...[and] the last man to field at slip with a whoopee cushion up his jumper!”

Lowerhouse secretary Frank said: “It’s taken some time to bring together but as always Tony Woodworth continues to deliver high quality signings. It’s another must see event following on from last year’s dinner with Jan Molby and our evening with Merv Hughes in the summer.”
