Lowerhouse’s junior set-up enjoy presentation night

Lowerhouse CC held their annual presentation night for the juniors through to second XI on Friday.

The decision to include the third and second XIs reflected the fact that both teams were made up almost entirely of junior players .

Over 200 parents and junior players were present .

Compere Stan Heaton thanked Harry Brooks for his continued investment in the juniors through the Harry Brooks Cricket foundation.

In addition to the annual £2,000, the investment would involve a further scholarship scheme for a promising junior.

The inaugural winner of the £500 award was county emerging player Liberty Heap .

Thanks also went to the managing director Matthew Stansfield and his fellow directors for the financial and practical support given to the junior section, along with the coaches and managers.

Special praise went to the parents for their continued support of the club, and to the juniors themselves for both their good conduct and on-field success.

The prizes were presented by first team skipper Charlie Cottam, with veteran cricket stalwart Derek Carter announcing the Craig Heaton Memorial Trophy winner, which was presented by Craig’s father Jim, and was won by Alex Astley for his District Under 15 cricket scores of 73 and 76 .

The club celebrated the success of all 13 junior teams in participating in over 150 matches .

All players received a certificate of representation, with individual trophies for champions 11(2) , 13 (full), 13(1) and 17s , or runners-up 11(3), 11(4),and 15(1)and best in discipline awards.

The club also presented the district awards and the customary special merit awards and memorial trophies.
