Lowerhouse Cricket Club have signed South African all-rounder Francois Haasbroek as their professional for the forthcoming Lancashire League season.

Haasbroek, 23, is a right hand batsman and right arm medium pace bowler, and has been a consistent performer since making his debut for Free State in 2010.

He obtained a degree before undertaking his first class cricket career, playing in every match for his state this season.

Haasbroek is the eighth South African professional to represent the club, and Cricket Chairman Stan Heaton said: “We are very confident that Francois will be a huge success, providing us with a quality batsman and a bowler who has been taking wickets in first class cricket at an average less than 20.

“He should benefit from the experience he gained in the Liverpool Competition in previous seasons.”

Lowerhouse wish to thank Gary Hunt of Cric-Intro for his assistance in the signing.
