Read and Padiham are both in Twenty20 quarter-final action tonight.

Kyle O’Connor’s defending champions travel to Back Lane to take on Oswaldtwistle Immanuel while Callum Clarke will guide his team out at Preston Old Road for their tie with Cherry Tree.

“I don’t know much about Ossy as a Twenty20 side,” conceded O’Connor. “We’ve never played them in the competition before. It’ll be an interesting tie but I’d back us to win.

“The lads are buzzing at the moment and things seem to be going right for us.

“Winning the competition is on a par with a top four finish in the league.”

Read are on the road again tomorrow when they visit Church Meadow to tackle Ribblesdale Wanderers.

The Whalley Road outfit have won four games in succession in all competitions and O’Connor is keen to see that momentum continue.

“We want to play consistently well to keep getting these results. If we give it our best every week then we can’t have any complaints.

“This recent spell has been the best we’ve played all year so it’s really good to see.”

He added: “I don’t see why we can’t achieve all our goals. The lads are giving everything they’ve got at the moment.

“People are hitting form at the right time and the pro (Keegan Petersen) is performing well. As long as that continues we’ll be successful.

“It would be a huge bonus if we can go in to our league game on the back of making Twenty20 finals day.”
