England seamer Jimmy Anderson is closing in on Ian Botham’s record Test haul after taking his 350th victim against Sri Lanka.

The Burnley Express dismissed AngeloMatthews in the second innnings of the First Test at Lord’s to register the milestone wicket and move within just 33 of Botham’s record.

Andreson (31), who is just five wicketsbehind Dennis Lillee now also moved to second in the list of leading wicket takers at Lord’s – again behind Botham.

He joins an exclusive club of just 21 bowlers to have reached 350 wickets and with one more test against Sri Lanka followed by a five-match series against India, there is a very good chance he’ll be even closer to themagical number of 383 come the winter.

Anderson made his Test debut against Zimbabwe back in 2003 at Lord’s at the age of just 20.
