HOLY Trinity C of E Primary school came out on top at the recent Hameldon Family Indoor Athletics Competition.

Pupils from Holy Trinity, St Joseph’s and Cherry Fold competed for the top prize across a series of athletics events including standing triple jump and lung jump, speed bounce, javelin and both sprinting and hurdles relays.

Each event was marshalled and officiated by a number of Year 10 Hameldon students - Bianca Heap, Amy Halawi, Jade Halliday, Natalie Brierley and Megan Bartle.

Mr Nicolson, Curriculum Leader for PE and School Games Organiser said: “The event was a great success which was was mainly down to the positive attitudes of the participants and their commitment to try their very best in each of the events. I would also like to thank our Young Leaders for helping me officiate and organise the different activities.”

As a result of their victory, Holy Trinity qualified for the Borough Final at Sir John Thursby. Unfortunately, they finished just outside the medal positions despite a wonderful team effort.

St. Joseph’s, who finished as runners-up in the Hameldon event, have qualified for the Lancashire Small Schools Competition.
