Holt to return for Padiham – but Read triumph

RETURNING: Chris Holt

PADIHAM professional Chris Holt has penned a new deal to keep him at the Arbories for the 2013 season.

The prolific paid man has been influential for John Bushell’s side this term, becoming the league’s deadliest bowler with 82 wickets which includes a seasonal best of 8/54 against Ribblesdale Wanderers in May.

He has also accumulated 498 runs with the bat.

However, on the day he signed his new contract, Holt was unable to steer Padiham away from defeat against his former Read team-mates.

After the visitors ended their innings with a total of 179, Padiham were extinguished for a mediocre tally of 86.

That disappointment rubber-stamped a torrid weekend of results for Padiham who slipped to a 69-run loss at home to Settle.

The away side stormed to a 205-run total before restricting the visitors in the turnaround.

Read’s triumph in the derby on Sunday secured the runners-up spot in the Houldsworth Solicitors Ribblesdale League for the third consecutive year following the 179-run thrashing of Edenfield at Whalley Road 24 hours earlier.
