Charity’s a winner at annual golf comp

AWARD winning Moorhouse’s Brewery has celebrated its 10th annual golf competition at Burnley Golf Club.

With 22 teams, 88 golfers from the brewery, customers and suppliers took part in the charity event, which raised £625 for The Christie with a raffle of prizes donated by suppliers.

Local team the Roggerham Gate won the day while Chris Wolfenden from the Heineken team took the top spot as individual player of the contest with 37 points.

The Longest Drive title went to Mark McLoughlin, while Nearest Pin was Chris Silver and Nearest Line on a Drive was also Mark Mcloughlin. Presenting the winners for Moorhouse’s was David Slane.

David Grant, managing director, said: “Our competition is ever more popular each year. This was the tenth year of the contest and it was marvellous to hold it at Burnley Golf Club, one of our excellent free trade club outlets in our home town.

“Remarkably the sun shone and the cold bottles of Blond Witch were much appreciated. The golf course at Burnley was in great shape regardless of the previous rain. The feedback was this was our best day yet we were really delighted to once again raise funds for Christie’s.”
