Relegated Padiham saved their best until last when they beat Prescot Cables 4-0 at the Arbories on Saturday in their final game of the EvoStik First Division North season.
Daley Woods stole the headlines when he recorded his first hat-trick for the Storks, while keeper Sean Davis ensured his season ended with a clean sheet.
Padiham had a great start, scoring after only five minutes when Woods angled his shot out of the reach of Prescot Cables shot stopper Ben Morrow.
Woods’ second arrived on 31 minutes after the Padiham striker was played in by Danny Wilkins, and he rounded the keeper to double the lead.
Andrew Hill made it 3-0 four minutes into the second half, scoring from close range after Alex Grice’s low hard corner found the Storks midfielder unmarked at the back post.
Further Padiham pressure paid dividends on 57 minutes when a Mark Sharples pass set up Woods to complete his hat-trick with a shot in off the underside of the bar to make it 4-0.
Josh Emmott looked to have made it 5-0, but Prescot keeper Morrow pulled off an exceptional save to deny the 17-year-old his first senior side goal for the club.
And at the other end Davis tipped over a Matty West blockbuster, and then had luck on his side as the visitors’ substitute went close again with a shot against the post.
Padiham Reserves had no fixture at the weekend but finish their Galaxy League fixtures with an home game this Thursday against Workington FC Reserves, kick-off at 8 p.m., and another home fixture on Saturday against Stalybridge Celtic Reserves, kick-off 3 p.m.
Padiham Football Club also host the Northern Under 16s girls final between Lancashire Schoolgirls and Cheshire Schoolgirls at the YESSS Electrical Arena tomorrow night, with kick-off at 7 p.m.
