Padiham’s home form deserted them again on Saturday as rget went down to EvoStik First Division North strugglers Radcliffe Borough.

This was a scrappy game between two teams at the wronf end of the table, and not a great spectacle to watch.

Chances were few and far between, with the two best opportunities arriving after the half-time break.

On 55 minutes, Danny Boyle should have made more of a great opening that fell his way when he headed a Kieron Pickup cross wide from close range.

At the other end, the outcome was different when a ball into Steve Howson was chested down and volleyed in by the Radcliffe defender to give the visitors thelead just before the hour.

Radcliffe went close to increasing their lead 10 minutes from time when a snap shot from Chris Thompson flew just over the bar, with Padiham’s best attempt coming from substitute Paul Fildes with two minutes left when his shot, through a crowded penalty area, was well saved by Borough keeper Chris Cheetham, who did well to see it.

Padiham are in action again tomorrow night when they travel to Kendal Town, kick-off 7-45 p.m..
