PADIHAM manager Craig Chadwick took the opportunity to look at a number of new faces in the Storks first pre-season friendly at AFC Darwen on Saturday.

Following a goalless first half in which Padiham’s midfield player Chris Ridehalgh came closest to scoring when he headed against the home side’s crossbar.

The second half saw the usual influx of different players and also two goals.

Firstly Padiham took the lead on the hour mark when Ed O’Neil headed past the AFC Darwen keeper to open the scoring.

With just 15 minutes remaining though former Padiham player Liam Denning equalised for the home team with a goal direct from a free-kick.

Padiham have no mid-week game but travel to Coppull United on Saturday for their second pre-season warm-up fixture.

The Stork away friendly with Mid-Cheshire League side Eagle Sports on Saturday, July 30th, has been cancelled and Padiham are in the process of arranging another game for this date.

Meanwhile Padiham FC Ladies have announced a pre-season friendly against local rivals Burnley FC Ladies on Sunday, August 21st at the Arbories, kick-off 11 a.m.

Final Score: AFC Darwen 1, Padiham 1
