Padiham game is called off after frozen pitch

PADIHAM’S game at Maine Road on Saturday was postponed due to a frozen pitch.

Only one game in the entire North West Counties League programme survived the weather, in the Premier Division, with Runcorn Town climbing to fourth place after winning 3-2 at home to Congleton Town.

The Storks’ Reserve Division Cup first round tie at Ashton Town Reserves also fell victim to the weather.

Padiham are without a midweek fixture, but will hope to return to action on Saturday, as they host Atherton LR in the Premier Division (kick-off 3 p.m.).

The reserves are at neighbouring Barnoldswick Town Reserves (3 p.m.).

A fixture pile-up within the league is inevitable after the poor weather of recent weeks, but Padiham find themselves in a situation where they have only 13 games remaining, with only Congleton having played more games.

In fact, Bacup Borough, who have played the fewest, have seven games in hand on the locals!
