Barnoldswick Town enjoyed a late winner against Cammell Laird on Saturday in the Macrpn Challenge Cup, but suffered a West Riding County Cup exit at Harrogate Town on Tuesday night.

Wayne Brooksby scored a hat-trick for National League North side Harrogate with a hat-trick.

He put the hosts ahead with a superb curler after 18 minutes.

Brooksby added another from the spot after 33 minutes after being brought down by Jordan Gidley, and he repeated the feat after substitute John Beckwith blocked Tom Platt’s shot with his arm and was shown a red card.

Jordan Robertson added a fourth for Harrogate five minutes from time as substitute Jordan Robertson peeled off his marker and dispatched his effort in off the far post.

On Saturday, at home to Cammell Laird, the visitors went ahead as Conor Christiansen netted with a fine effort with the outside of his boot.

However, Town responded immediately as Beckwith scrambled home from a corner.

In the second half, Barnoldswick dominated, but the tie looked set for extra time when substitute Aaron Hollindrake tapped home after a great save from Beckwith.

In the East Lancashire League Second Division, Town beat Grindleton 2-0.

The young home side set about the task with determination from the start and went in front on 12 minutes when Luke Parkinson fired home from 20 yards to give Town a deserved lead which they held until half-time.

A couple of incredible saves by home goalkeeper Adam Wormwell kept his team in the lead at the beginning of the second half, before Bailey Coates crossed to provide Jake Hartley with the simplest of finishes.
