Padiham Ladies claimed the bragging rights as they beat Burnley Ladies 3-1 to reach the semi-finals of the Lancashire FA Cup.
Despite having the best of the early exchanges, the lady Clarets conceded in the 13th minute when a Burnley goal kick deflected into the path of the Padiham’s Justine Wallace, who efficiently dispatched the ball low to the keeper’s right.
Burnley pressed for an equaliser and a Becca Sidley throw-in was flicked on by Kelly Dean to rampaging winger Charlotte Hartley, but her effort was well saved at the near post.
But the lady Clarets levelled five minutes from the interval as a wickedly swerving free kick from Em Forrest was headed off the line, only for Hartley to volley into the top right-hand corner of the net from 12 yards.
After the interval, Burnley were repelled by solid Padiham defending, and a pin point corner from Rachael Wood was met by a towering header from Jo Holt, but the ball flew over.
Padiham outfit gained the lead in the 80th minute as Justine Wallace despatched a 25-yard free kick, arrowing just under the bar.
And in the dying embers of the match, Padiham bagged their third when a cross-shot from the left wing by Charlotte Holden sailed into the far corner of the net.
