Burnley FC Girls and Ladies’ Under 13s produced arguably the comeback of the season as they beat Preston North End at the Prairie on Saturday.

Two quick goals made it 1-1 after 10 minutes, but Preston scored four more goals, to make it 5-1 at half-time.

Burnley upped their game inthe second half, and goals from Annabelle Uttley and Tiggi Gent made it 5-3 with 15 minutes remaining.

Grace Turner powered home the fourth goal, and the chance to equalise came from a penalty with eight minutes remaining. Turner stepped up in search of her hat-trick, only to be denied by a good save, but the resulting corner saw Grace Mills curl the ball into the back of the net, to make it 5-5.

And when Phoebe Johnstone played a superb ball through to Turner, she made it 6-5.

With a minute to go, Gent supplied a great side-foot finish to seal a fantastic 7-5 win.

Elsewhere, there were good wins for both the Under 11s and the Under 15s.

The under 12s struggled to find their passing game following a six week lay-off and lost out to Wigan Athletic.

The Under 14s put in a great performance, but couldn’t convert their many chances and lost out 1-0 to Academy Juniors.
