Jaysco Soccer’s managing director Jamie Holgate is hoping to give youngsters the chance to channel their energies into positive activity.
Jaysco’s football development centre attracts around 100 kids aged between 14-21 on Friday evenings at Burnley College.
The aim is to encourage youngsters into sport, which in turn stops them hanging around the streets, where they may become bored and turn to crime, drugs or drinking.
Holgate said: “We want to give young people the chance to interact and meet new people, improve fitness and well-being and team building.
“There’s been a 10% decrease in people playing football since 2005 and our aim is try to increase the participation back into Burnley. We offer career opportunities to our youths, coaching and referee qualifications, and a selected few get the opportunity to receive USA soccer scholarships in America.
“We don’t over price or over complicate the rules. Our priority is to play football for pure enjoyment with good competition, but safely and professionally-run with FA qualified officials. There’s no better feeling seeing our young lads grow into better people with help of our development.”
