Christmas has come early for the Burnley and District Sunday Football League!

The league are happy to unveil Santa’s Pizza of Colne Road, Burnley)as their new main sponsor for the forthcoming season.

Jeff Sumner, league treasuer, said: “We were looking for a new sponsor to follow K Supplies, who we are very grateful to for their support over the last few seasons.

“Without support from our sponsors we wouldn’t be able to operate as a league, which would mean enduring the same pathway as the Burnley Saturday Football League in having to fold.”

League chairman John Pilling added: “Luckily there is still a great demand for Sunday football within the borough and the league will endeavour to keep going as long as it possibly can.

“We understand that there are issues surrounding the cost to play football these days and the difficulty teams have of covering financial overheads, but it’s good to know most of our teams have managed to get sponsors to help them offset their expenses.”

The Sunday League this year will consist of 26 teams.

The league is made up as a three-division system with three individual divisional cup knockout competitions, and there is an overall challenge knockout cup competition open to all the teams.

The league would like to thank their other sponsors for their continued support, Alderson and Horan Funeral Services, Barcode Burnley, Fixings North West, the Briggs Family and SDL Trophy Centre.
