Clarets fan Billy Grogan has fulfilled a dream after he signed up to Burnley FC’s Academy.
Blessed Trinity pupil Billy (15) came through a tough trial and will now attend day release one day a week at Gawthorpe.
Midfielder Billy, who lives in Ramsey Grove, signed up for Pendle Forest at the age of seven.
He also trained at Brian Roche’s Boxing gym in Burnley and had several fights before decided to focus on his football.
It was when he was playing for Blessed Trinity that a Burnley FC scout spotted him and asked him to attend a six-week trial, during which he impressed.
“Being at the Academy requires a lot of hard work and dedication but it’s great,” said Billy. “My dream is to play for Burnley.”
Blessed Trinity Headteacher Richard Varey said: “It’s great to see Billy as a Burnley fan sign for Burnley’s Academy. We hope to see him play on Turf Moor one day.”
