A Padiham youngster ensured Raphael Varane didn’t “Walk Alone” ahead of Real Madrid’s Champions League tie with Liverpool at Anfield.
Nine-year-old Harrison Hull, who attends St John the Baptist RC Primary School and plays for Bury FC’s Academy, was one of 22 lucky winners in the MasterCard Player Escort competition and subsequently played his part in the build up to the Group B qualifying fixture.
Defender Varane, a World Cup quarter-finalist with France in Brazil, went on to keep a clean sheet as the La Liga side beat Brendan Rodgers’s Reds 3-0.
“The experience was fantastic and well organised,” said dad, Craig. “Harry had a great night that he’ll never forget.
“When he was in the tunnel he was very excited and wondering which player he’d get.
“The players walked out one-by-one and held a mascot’s hand. Harry walked out with Raphael Varane in front of 43,000 people.”
