Clarets come together for Mick

Following last year's game to show appreciation for the work Mick Ennis did throughout his many years of teaching and his involvement in school sport, the Mick Ennis Memorial Trophy will again be held on Sunday.

A team of St Ted’s Old Boys will take on the Vintage Clarets at Belvedere Sports Club on Holden Road, kick-off 2 p.m., to help raise funds for Pendleside Hospice.

Mick was a respected PE teacher at St Theodore’s and Blessed Trinity RC Schools, where he helped develop sporting talent such as England cricketer James Anderson, former Manchester United youngster Chris Casper – part of the famous Class of 92 – and Burnley midfielder John Mullin, who also played for Sunderland and Rotherham United, Tranmere Rovers and Accrington Stanley.

Former Clarets captain, coach and caretaker manager Steve Davis will also be making his Vintage Clarets debut.

The St Ted’s team will feature an array of former pupils, including John Mullin, who will captain the side, as well as Dean Stowe, formerly of Hull City.
