Burnley and Pendle Scouts enjoy football tournament

Briercliffe St James, Scout District Football Champions

Briercliffe St James, Scout District Football Champions

BURNLEY and Pendle Scouts fought out a close battle for the right to be named District Football Champions.

Troops from the newly-joined districts entered teams into the six-a-side competition, which was supported by Pendle Leisure Trust and Streetgames.

With a small army of Scout leaders and helpers, working closely with the Trust’s sports development team and aided by the Pendle Volunteer Unit, the event was well supported and deemed a big success.

In a close run competition, with just two points separating first and third place, 1st Briercliffe (Saint James) emerged as victors, being awarded the District Cup by Burnley’s very own England International goalkeeper Rachel Brown and outgoing District Commissioner, Howard Mitchell.

Eleven-year-old Frazer Anderson, from Saint Andrews (5th Burnley) accepted the “Top Goal Scorer” award from Rachel and Howard for his seven goals scored.
