Late goal denies Forest a point

PENDLE Forest Under 15s lost the division’s match of the day with Blue Star with the last kick of the game, going down 2-1 in a very entertaining match.

They came from behind through a close range equaliser by Sean Duckworth, only to see what would have been a well-earned point slip away in the last seconds.

Man of the match was Kian Farnworth.

Forest’s Under 10s Falcons drew 4-4 with Belvedere Juniors.

A superb brace by man of the match Ben Dugdale, a back-heeled goal by Brandon Carter and 20 yard strike by Max Hoggatt were not quite enough for Falcons to take the points.

Pendle’s Under 9s Eagles also had a scoredraw, 2-2 with Brierciffe Rovers, after being 2-0 down.

Sonny Broxup and Ben Irvine scored the goals, with Joseph Ryan named man of the match.

Pendle Forest’s Under 8s Cobras took on Daneshouse, with Isaac Routh scoring the only goal for Forest in the first half, followed by a brace from Alfie Percival and a goal from man of the match Finn Buck.

The Under 8s Vipers took on their club friends the Pythons, and feast of goals ensued with Brandon, Harvey and Thomas on target, and an own goal for the home side.

Forest’s Under 8s Cobras travelled to Readstone United, and Joe Webb scored his first- ever hat-trick for the team, but it still wasn’t enough to earn the man of the match award.

Luke Stowe took the honours as he too bagged three times, as did Alfie Percival in a goal fest.

l READSTONE United Under 8s Yellow were beaten 3-2 by Barrowford Celtic Orange in an exciting game of football between two evenly-matched teams.

The goal scorers were Owen Jones and man of the match Alex Morrissey.

United’s Under 9s Yellow drew 2-2 with Brierfield Celtic.

The goalscorers were Cade Leonard and Harry Burrows, with James Bridge named man of the match.

The previous week the team progressed to the semi- finals of the Cup with a thrilling 5-4 victory over Colne Juniors.

The goal scorers were Cade Leonard with a hat-trick, James Bridge and Harry Burrows.
