THE Vintage Clarets will be taking on veterans from a multitude of European nations at the forthcoming 36th Annual Football Tournament to be held over the weekend of May 17-20th at Hammer Spielvereinigung 03/04 in Hamm, Germany.

The Turf Moor past masters are all ex-pros who play throughout the year to raise funds for the Burnley Former Players‘ Association.

At least 14 former Clarets have confirmed so far and include players such as John Francis, Roger Eli, Liam Robinson, Peter Mumby, Gerry Harrison, Graham Lancashire, Junior Bent, Paul Atkinson and George Oghani.

Captain of the team, John Deary, said: “We love wearing the badge and representing Burnley FC with pride in Germany.”

They are looking to go one better than last year when they lost to a German team in the semi-final, who went on to be crowned champions

He added: “We got a great reception from all last year and they were desperate for us to come again this year.”

The team have an official reporter and photographer for the competition who will be keeping a video diary together with constant twitter and facebook updates.

The team also have several sponsorship packages available.

Individual sponsorship is £50, with the player’s training shirts carrying the advertiser’s logo.

The Bronze Standard costs £150, with the Silver Standard priced at £250.

The Gold Standard package is £500 and includes a former player of their choice, who will record a personal advertisement for their company, as well as their logo being used on all training shirts, mentions on social media and a signed ball and shirt with certificate of authenticity.

They also plan on holding a sponsors’ night in Burnley when they return triumphant with the trophy.
