Blackburn started the game on the front foot, as the young Clarets struggling to get a foothold on the game.

Once the Clarets got over their initial early nerves they created the first chance of the half, from a corner Adam Evans managed to turn and shoot, but his shot fell wide of the Rovers post.

Curtis Hayley had the ball in the net for Rovers, but the referee ruled that the big front man had unfairly challenged for the ball.

The best chance of the half also fell to Hayley, after Beesley had swung a perfect ball into the feet of the Rovers forward, but his connection wasn't clean, much to the relief of Burnley keeper Josh Cook.

Rovers ended the half the stronger of the two teams, and almost took a last minute lead when a snapshot for Hanley forced Cook to tip the ball over the bar.

The second half started with a bang as Shay McCartan burst into the Rovers area, but unfortunately for the young Claret his run was halted by a last ditch tackle.

Blackburn took the lead rather fortunately as an Osawe shot hit Burnley defender Coleman, the ball fell to the feet of Fernandez who confidently slotted his shot past Cook.

Minutes later the tie was effectively killed off, as a speculative long range free-kick from Ryan Edwards managed to deceive the young Clarets stopper and squirm under his body.

A late penalty for the hosts gave Burnley some hope, after Adam Henley handled the ball in front of the eagle-eyed referee. Steven Hewitt confidently stepped up and blasted his spot-kick low and hard to Urwin's right, giving the Rovers keeper no chance.

So Blackburn progress to the final after this keenly contested semi-final, but the young Burnley lads can leave with their heads held high after a spirited performance against much bigger opponents.
