Lady Clarets are narrowly edged out
With less than two minutes played, Linny Craig had raided down the left flank and made two attempts on the Lady Shrimps goal, thanks to smart interplay involving Becky Hayton and Leah Hart.
The second attempt resulted in a ball that passed across the six-yard box without any takers.

Hide AdFurther pressure was initiated by a throughball from Chelsea Penny to Craig, who stepped past the defence before shooting at the keeper.
The Lady Clarets continued to dominate the early stages, with further attempts by star player Lizzy Hamer, who constantly taunted the visitors defence.
Morecambe provided a response by playing searching long balls, which were confidently intercepted by Captain Jo Holt, Stephanie Meeks and Paula Duffy.
Morecambe’s best chance of the half came from a throughball which sent their number 10 Emma Kay clear, but she was intercepted by Holly Hunter.

Hide AdIn the latter stages of the half , substitute Jo Roman latched onto a ball and shot from 20 yards, but the attempt whistled over the bar.
The second period started as the first finished.
Morecambe made a few attacks on the Clarets’ goal, and forced a corner, but the Clarets replied with two shots from Hayton and a header by Leah Hart that was cleared off the line.
With 30 minutes remaining, Morecambe managed to up the tempo.
One effort saw the ball travel dangerously across the area before being deflected out for a corner.

Hide AdThe kick landed at the rear of the box to striker Millie Brown who headed over.
Another attack followed, and Morecambe’s Megan Doherty forced Clarets goal keeper Karly Bland to make a diving save and push the ball around the post.
This time, Morecambe striker Brown was be in luck as the corner took a defection off a Clarets player and fell to her feet, and she was able to slot the ball home.
The Clarets responded well, and created a number of chances, the best one falling to Lizzy Hamer, but, unfortunately, her shot went wide of the post.

Hide AdThe game was played out with half chances at both ends, but Burnley were not able to find a way through.
