'˜Joey was a credit to us and himself' '“ Dyche

Former Claret Joey Barton has been on the end of a number of character assasinations this week, as the fallout of his suspension at Rangers continues.

But Sean Dyche insists the combative midfielder wasn’t a problem during his season at Turf Moor. Barton left Burnley for Ibrox in the summer after helping land the Championship title, but has been told to stay away from the club for the rest of the month after a a heated argument involving team-mate Andy Halliday after the 5-1 defeat against Celtic. Former professionals Danny Mills and Kris Boyd have taken aim, but Dyche – described in Barton’s book ‘No Nonsense’, out this week as “one of the few managers I felt was a friend”, said: “Joey was a credit to us and himself, the way he went about his business here. It is a different environment, different people, voices and opinions though.

“It’s all part of his life, I don’t think he’ll radically overthink it. It’s up to other people what they think, I can’t judge, as I don’t know the facts – I can only speak about his time with us.”
