Goalkeeper Tom Heaton says he owes a debt of gratitude to boss Sean Dyche after clocking up 100 appearances for the club against Rotherham United.

Heaton and teammate Scott Arfield both hit the century mark in the 2-1 win against the Millers at the New York Stadium.

The 29-year-old England international, part of Roy Hodgson’s squad for the final UEFA Euro 2016 Group E qualifiers against Estonia and Lithuania, made his Clarets debut in a 1-1 draw against Bolton Wanderers at Turf Moor in August 2013 having signed on a free transfer from Bristol City.

“I’m delighted to reach that milestone,” Heaton told the club. “In the time I’ve been here I’ve taken part in most games which has been absolutely brilliant.

“I think I’ve started every league game I’ve been available for so I’ve been really pleased.

“I’ve not reached treble figures at any club so it’s certainly something that was important when I signed here that I’d make it home and a place where I can get settled and produce consistently.

“The manager signed me and put faith in me and I’m grateful for that. I want to keep repaying him under his management and his staff.

“I’ve done a lot of close work with Billy Mercer and I feel like my game is getting better all the time which is important to me.

“Billy and I have a great relationship so I’m very grateful to him as well for all the work he puts in.”

The skipper, who won promotion to the Premier League with the Clarets, added: “There’s been so many great games that I’ve been involved in here.

“Thankfully the club has made great progress during my time here so it’s been a great combination.”
